How NEET Exam has changed the landscape of Medical Education

Introduction

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test commonly called as NEET exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) of India for the admission of Medical seats in India. In this article, we will explore more about NEET exam.

State Board Vs Central Board
Before the advent of NEET exam, state governments and central government conducted separate exams for medical and BDS seats. There are two types of education namely state board education and central board education.State board education is conducted by the state government of India.Central Board education is conducted by the central government of India.State board education syllabus is different from central board syllabus.State board syllabus is created by experts appointed by the state government. It is usually very basic and easy to study when compared to other syllabus.Central Board syllabus is created by experts selected from all over India and appointed by the central government. It contains huge syllabus. It covers syllabus from very basic to very advanced level. Usually students feel very tough to study CBSE syllabus.

Exam Pattern and Students Intelligence
Exams conducted by state government is straight forward. Usually students have to reproduce what is there on the book to score marks in public exams. So students score huge marks in exams. Those students who are capable of memorising the syllabus can score huge marks.Only the memory power of students is tested, not the intelligence of the students. So students from State board score huge marks in exams.

On the other hand, students from Central board syllabus are tested with difficult questions. Usually the questions are not straight forward. Students have to dig their brain deep to solve the questions.Students often end up with low scores.

Calculation of Marks
Students from State Board get admission to Medical seats based on the marks scored in Physics,Chemistry and Biology as well as the marks scored in the entrance exam conducted by state government.Physics and Chemistry marks are divided by four and Biology marks is divided by two and added together along with the marks scored in the entrance exam. The total marks are calculated for a total out of 300. Those who get the top marks are alloted seats in Medical Colleges and BDS courses. Those who score less marks but want to study medical courses often get admissions by paying a huge amount and get admissions in private colleges.

Each state in India has their own pattern and give admissions to medical seats on the basis of merit.

On the other hand, students from central board write entrance exam conducted by central government. Students get admission to medical and dental colleges solely on the marks scored in the entrance exam.Usually scoring marks in entrance exam is difficult than scoring marks in public exam. So often students end up with less marks.

NEET Coaching centres

NEET Coaching centres come into picture at this point.People from all over India start searching for coaching centres to specifically score marks in entrance exam. Usually coaching centres collect huge amount of money. So poor people cannot afford big money. So they cannot join coaching centres. Hence they cannot score big marks in entrance exams conducted by CBSE board. Also not all coaching centres are good. Usually good coaching centres are available in cities only. So people from rural areas cannot join coaching centres. Also if you want to join in coaching centre, first you have to be economically sound and the student has to be in big cities. So it is advantage for rich and city students. So very often rich people from Tier 1 cities get admission in Medical colleges and Dental colleges.

”One India,One Exam”
NEET exam is conducted by central government. This exam is based on the principle “One India,One Rule ”.”One India,One Exam”. People from rural areas are usually poor. They study in state government syllabus. They cannot cope up with central syllabus. As the questions are asked in central syllabus, they feel like they are in the darkness of the jungle. Some students don’t even know the exact syllabus. They often do not find quality teachers to coach them to the central syllabus. This breaks the dream of poor people and students from rural areas.Even students who score centum in state board exams are not able to get admission in medical colleges through NEET exam.

Exam Centres in Different States

Central government conduct exams throughout India. So their exam centres are placed in different states. Because of this people from Tamil Nadu has to write exams in Kashmir and Rajasthan because the central government has alloted their exam centres on that state. India is a big country with different languages spoken. No one knows what is spoken on the other end of India. People from Tamil Nadu also do not know Hindi. This creates additional problem for Tamil students who have to appear for exams in North Indian States. So students go with parents which creates additional expenditure for travel. This adds to the tension of exams. Also they have to travel huge kilometers. Not all people can afford Air travel. So they have to travel more than a day in train to reach their respective centres. This creates tiredness for the students and reduces the preparation time for students. Some of the students parents were sick and two parents died when they accompanied their children to the exams due to bad weather, last year. This adds salt to wound. Students suffer a lot because of this Neet exam.

Tamil Nadu needs exception from NEET Exam

So state governments like Tamil Nadu has requested the central government to give exception to Tamil Nadu students, which the Central government rejected. Also in states like Tamil Nadu, there is reservation for Backward,Most backward,Scheduled Castes,Scheduled Tribes. On CBSE pattern NEET exam, this type of reservation is not allowed. So students from socially backward classes cannot join medical colleges and their dreams are broken. Also, people who are selected and got admission in MBBS and BDS courses are alloted in different colleges in different states. This creates lot of problems for freshers as they have to accustom to the outside culture and language.

Conclusion
NEET exam conducted by central government is beneficial for economically sound, city educated and socially forward people. Students from other walks of life has to suffer a lot.As “One India,One Rule ” theory has so many limitations, it is time to rethink the policies for the betterment of the downtrodden people so that they also can achieve their dreams of becoming a Doctor and serve the nation.

Early Pregnancy Scan

Introduction

Women are wonderful creatures, created by God. Woman gave birth to all the people in the world. Before giving birth, they have a pregnancy period. Science and Technology has improved a lot. Previously, only after the birth of a child, we would come to know whether it is a boy or a girl.Due to the advancement of technology, a process called scanning is invented. Through this we can find out whether a baby is a boy or a girl, during pregnancy itself. In this article, we will see about Early Pregnancy Scan.

Western Women

In western countries, women are considered a boom to the Society.Women have all the freedom. Women are the wealth of a nation.Women participate in everything.Interreligious or Inter Caste marriages are common in western society. So there are no honour killings. Women have freedom of sex. Everything is fine in western countries. They like girl children. So when they take scan before pregnancy, whether it is a boy or a girl,it is same for them. So there is no problem with scanning during pregnancy period.

Women in India

In developing countries like India,Women are not considered as a boom to the society.Women has less freedom. Women are not the wealth of a nation. Women do not participate in all the activities.Interreligious or Intercaste marriages are not common. There are honour killings.Women do not have freedom of sex.Almost everything is forbidden in Countries like India. They do not like girl children. When they take scan before pregnancy,if it is a boy, then they are happy. If it is a girl, then they are not happy.so there is a problem with scanning during pregnancy period.

Dowry

In developing countries like India, there is a system called dowry. In this, the parent of bride has to pay some money for the bridegroom.Usually they ask money as well as huge amount of gold.So the parents of girl child find it difficult to pay the amount.Girls who are born to rich, escape. Girls born to poor parents are in trouble. Poor parents try hard to get a girl child married. If they have so many girl children, then they find it hard to get them married. So they consider, girl children as a burden. So they kill girl child when they born itself.

Sex

In countries like India,Sex is forbidden. A marriage is the correct way to have sex. Anything outside of that is forbidden.During teenage period, girls and boys fall in love.If they have premarital sex, then that girl is considered as a bad girl. Usually the boy escapes. The girl who had sex, had to suffer. If she becomes pregnant, then if it is a girl child, again they kill the child because of social stigma.Usually the girl who loved a boy is often held separately. She cannot live alone. Her parents disown her. So the girl child cannot survive. So they kill the girl child.

Caste Factor

In countries like India, caste is a main factor for riots. Communal clashes also happen because of girls. If a lower caste guy marries a higher caste girl or vice versa, then the parents or brother of the girl kills the guy who married her daughter. So honor killings happen and this will create an enmity between those two families and it will be converted into an enmity between two castes and they become lifelong foes and this continues for coming generation also.If a boy is from a different religion than that of girl, then this results in Communal clashes. It leads to more communal clashes and it spreads like wildfire.Often,Bomb blasts take place because of communal riots. Because of that, some are branded as terrorists. It leads to another type of problem for the Society. All these factors led to the dislike of girls.

Early Pregnancy Scan

When they scan the child during pregnancy, if they found that it is a girl, then some people tell them to kill the child in the foetus itself so that future problems would not arise. This has become a huge problem in countries like India. So the Government has enacted laws which prohibit to scan, during pregnancy. As these people are illiterates, the Government has to enact the law. It is completely correct for countries like India to prohibit scans during pregnancy.

Conclusion

As literacy rate is getting high and social stigma is decreasing, there is reduction in the killing of girl child. But this law has to be in place for another generation so that this menace of killing girl child will be completely eradicated from the planet.

Tips For Improving Our Lives

Introduction

All people in this world are talented. But they are not equally talented. Some are over talented. Some needs to improve their talent. They themselves have to improve so that they are up to the mark.

Food and Drinks

Food plays an important role in the development of human body and in particular, brain. A child starts to develop its brain when it is inside the mother’s womb.  So the mother has to eat well so that the child has a good brain. After birth also, child has to eat good food so that it gets all the nutrients and minerals. Malnutrition is affecting the talent of  most of the people in the underdeveloped countries.
Eating good food is good for health. But for some people, over eating is becoming a problem. The problem of over eating and living a sedentary life, results in deposition of fat, in the belly. This results in problems such as Type 2 Diabetes. This disease is one of the biggest problem facing the world today. People eat pizzas and start living a lazy life without any exercise. Also they smoke a lot. They also drink lot of liquor. Smoking and drinking are the two main reasons for almost all type of diseases happening in the world today.
People have to do exercise a lot. They should do jogging, swimming, cycling, walking etc. If we eat a lot and do not do any exercise, the food we eat is not converted into energy. The carbohydrates we eat a lot are converted into fats and are stored in the stomach. It gets accumulated on the stomach and results in huge belly. If we exercise, the food we eat is converted into energy, and hence the fat are burnt. So sweating is essential to burn fat. Also we should eat less food but quality food.We should avoid carbohydrates and fats. Also we should not eat any fried food. Usage of Oil should be avoided.
We should avoid using cool drinks as much as possible. We should drink coconut water, lime juice, orange, grapes, apple juices more. Natural juices are the best for health.Older people are stronger than us because they ate natural food more and drank natural juices and fruits. They worked hard. They exercised hard. So they lived a happy life without any diseases.

Conclusion

Health is wealth.Once we know, how  to maintain our health, we can easily earn money. Only when we are healthy, we can work well. If we are not healthy, our body won’t adjust and we lose concentration. So our work fails which results in loss of job and money and happiness.Once we eat well, stay fit and avoid tobacco and liquor, we can improve our lives better.Others would not come and improve us.We have to improve ourselves ie. Self Improvement.

Jackhammer

Introduction

The invention of electricity has changed the lives of human beings. Lot of devices using electrical energy were invented and it changed the comfortness of the lives of human beings. One such invention is the Jack Hammer. In this article, we will look about Jack Hammer and its uses in electrical repair.

Jackhammer

It is a mechanical equipment using electrical power. It is also called driller or electrical driller. It operates on the motor principles. When a current carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field, it experiences a torque which results in the motion of the conductor. When the number of Conductors are joined, it creates a circular motion or  it rotates. The rotating part is called the rotor and the stationary part is called the stator. The whole electrical equipment is called motor.
Jackhammer has a rotating motor in it. When electrical energy is applied to it,the motor starts rotating  and when the motor rotates, the chisel attached to it also rotates. So it is used to drill the walls etc. Hence it is called Electrical Driller.
Electrical Driller is used to drill heavy walls, wooden materials, rocks, pipes etc. It is used in the construction industry. It is used to cut the tiles. It is used to drill and put the holes. Electrical fittings are installed on the walls or on the wooden blocks. It requires drilling. For that, electrical drillers are used.
Electrical driller comes with various types of chisels. It comes in different length as well as in different diameters. So it used to put holes according to the diameter of the chisel blade. Some modern chisel operates with high power battery also. Usually AC or Alternating current is used. In U.S.,Alternating current comes with a frequency of 60Hz.In India, it comes with a frequency of 50Hz. It revolves 60 times per second or 50 times per second. Hertz is nothing but cycles per second. It is the unit of frequency.
Electrical driller is used for electrical repair. To put holes on iron gate, these drillers are used to put holes so that nails can be used on it. It comes in different colors. It is packed in a suitcase. So it is very safe. Also it comes with a User Manual. Using it you can study the technical aspects of the drilling machine. Also diagrams are given to fix the blades with the machine. Each blade is for different purpose. Most of the drillers come with 3 years warranty. It is available in all the leading shops. It can be purchased online. All country products are available in the market. Chinese drillers are cheap but the quality is not that much appreciable. If the budget is low,you can opt for chinese drillers.
It usually consumes 40 watts input power. It is very sturdy and rugged. Hence it is long durable. Its No-Load speed is 0-2800 rpm. No-Load speed is the speed with which it runs when no load is applied to it. rpm is nothing but revolutions per minute. The chuck size is 13mm. Impact drillers and hammer drillers are also available.

Conclusion

Electrical machineries are part and parcel of our daily life. Jackhammers or Electrical drillers are a must for electrical repairs. I suggest you to purchase a U.S. manufactured Electrical driller because its quality is really good.

Should There be Humour in Animated Explainer Videos

Introduction

Technology is developing everyday.Seeing is thousand times better than reading.Whatever we write, how good the language be, it cannot be understood by everyone. But seeing a video, human beings can remember well.Seeing and hearing is better than reading. So technical videos are produced a lot by all  Companies. Animated Explainer videos are the latest technology in e-learning field.Animated Explainer videos are always humourous. In this article, we will explore the humorous nature of the Animated Explainer videos.

Animated Explainer videos

Videos that use animation technique to explain about a product is called Animated Explainer Videos. They are used mostly by marketing people. They are usually short videos of 1-3 minutes. Human beings concentration level is low.So, the videos are mostly short span videos. They explain the product very well in that short span of time. Human beings usually do not come in the video. The Videos are like cartoon type with humorous characters.

Different Types of  Animated Explainer Videos

Types of Animated Explainer videos are:
  • 2D animation
  • 3D animation
Simplest form of animation is whiteboard animation technique. In this a human hand which writes, is always shown in the video. In Kinetic Typography Animation, the message is delivered through words. Words are animated and conveys the message.Motion Graphic Animation is another type where animation is done through moving graphics. In Cutout Animation type, the characters are usually drawn on paper. It is cut out and made to animate. That is why it is called cutout animation.Animated Music video is another type where music is played along with animation so that it has a long lasting effect on the viewers.

Is Humour Necessary?

As the animated explainer videos do not involve human beings, humour is necessary in these videos.Human beings show expressions. Humour is naturally involved when human beings talk.Humour is necessary so that the interaction is good, interesting and it increases the concentration span.As the human can express his expressions, the videos are interesting and people can watch it for a long time. So when we start with humour, first the listener is happy and is in a jovial mood.So his concentration is good. He will more likely view the complete video. As these videos are created for marketing purposes, the whole video has to be seen by the viewer so that it gets the desired results.

Conclusion

Humour releases stress. A video seen without stress has a happy ending. It lasts in the memory for long. When it lasts in the memory, it creates a chance for the viewer to think about the product again and hence results in a sale. So humour in videos are absolutely necessary for the sales of a product.

How to Slow Down An Overactive Immune System

Every country needs a defense system so that it can defend its territory.Like wise,Human body needs a defense system to protect it from various bacteria,Viruses,Fungi,Microbes etc.The natural defense system which a human body has is called Immune System. In this article, we will see about the immune system particularly Overactive immune system and the methods to slow it.
Immune system constantly looks for bacteria, viruses and fights it, if it detects any external pathogens.Blood is a fluid in the human body which is responsible for carrying Oxygen and nutrients. to the cells and carries the waste materials away from the cells. There are three type of blood cells namely:
  1. Red blood Cells(RBC) or Erythrocytes
  1. White Blood Cells(WBC) or Leukocytes
  1. Platelets or Thrombocytes
Blood accounts for 7 percent of the whole human body weight. An average adult has a blood volume of 5 litres.Erythrocytes consists of 45 percent volume,Platelets consists of 54.3 percent volume and leukocytes consists of only 0.7 percent volume.Out of these,WBC or White Blood Cells is responsible for the immune system. One microliter of blood contains 4000-11000 leukocytes. It is the leukocytes which attacks foreign organisms and protects the human body. If leukocytes are produced more, then that results in a type of Cancer Called Leukemia which usually starts from the bone marrow.
WBC’s are stored in Lymphoid organs. Thymus and Bone Marrow are the primary Lymphoid organs. They generate lymphocytes from  immature progenitor cells.Lymph nodes and Spleen are secondary Lymphoid organs. Thymus is a gland situated below the neck and inbetween the lungs. Spleen is situated on the upper side of left abdomen. The spleen contains specialized compartments where immune cells gather and work, and serves as a meeting point where immune defenses confront antigens.Clumps of lymphoid tissue are found in many parts of the body, especially in the linings of the digestive tract and the airways and lungs—territories that serve as gateways to the body.
Bone Marrow is responsible for the creation of T Cells and the production of B Cells.B cells joins the Circulatory system and search for pathogens whereas T cells first go to Thymus, produce more T Cells, then join the Circulatory system and then search for Pathogens.Spleen produces antibodies in its white pulp and removes the bacteria through blood circulation and lymph node circulation.
All leukocytes have a nuclei in their cells. RBC’s and platelets do not have nuclei.Leukocytes are classified by their structure into two categories namely:
  • granulocytes
  • agranulocytes.
It is also classified according to the Cell division into two categories namely:
  • Myeloid cells
  • Lymphoid Cells
The above two categories can be further divided into five main types namely:
  • neutrophils
  • eosinophils (acidophilus)
  • basophils
  • lymphocytes
  • Monocytes
Lympocytes are further classified into
  • B cells
  • T cells
  • NK Cells
The number of leukocytes present in the blood is often an indicator of the disease. If the count of WBC is increased above the upper limit, then that condition is called leukocytosis. If the count of WBC is decreased below the lower limit, then that condition is called leukopenia.  This indicates a weakened immune system. Increase in WBC is normal when it fights the pathogens. Decreased count is dangerous to the body.
Neutrophil is 10-12 micrometer and it is responsible for fighting bacteria and fungi. It has multilobed nucleus. Granules are pink and its lifetime is 6 hours to few days.
Eosinophil is 10-12 micrometer and it is responsible for fighting larger parasites. The nucleus is bilobed. Granules are pink to orange and its lifetime is 8-12 days.
Basophil is 12-15 micrometer and it releases for histamine responses. Its nucleus is bilobed or trilobed, large blue granules and its life span is from few hours to few days.
Small lymphocytes are 7-8 micrometer and large lymphocytes are 12-15 micrometer. It has a eccentric nucleus which is deeply staining, granules are NK-cells and cytotoxic (CD8+) T-cells.It’s lifetime is years for memory cells whereas weeks for else.It mainly deals with virus infected and tumour cells.
Monocyte is 15-30 micrometer. It s main target is the tissues. Its nucleus is kidney shaped and granules are none. Its life span is from hours to days.
In leukopenia, usually the white blood cell reduced is the neutrophil. In this case,it is called neutropenia or granulocytopenia. If the WBC that is reduced is lymphocytes then that condition is called lymphocytopenia or lymphopenia.
Immune System
Human body naturally has immune system. When a baby is born, the immune system naturally goes to the child through breast milk. As the baby grows into an adult,it's immune system is developed well and hence it is less prone to diseases. When a pathogen enters, the first layer, the skin fights against it. If it crosses it ,then the second layer of immune system which is the Acquired immune system takes control and fights the pathogen. The antibodies are produced against the pathogen and it is kept in memory. If the same type of pathogen comes again,it fights efficiently as it has a copy already. For example, chicken pox comes only once. When it first comes the necessary antibodies are produced. So it halts effectively when it comes second time. This is called immunity. The body has already acquired immunity to that disease.
Immunodeficiency
Immunodeficiency occurs due to the collapse of immune system. Immune system naturally starts to collapse when we reach 50 years of age. Others reasons include Obesity, alcohol, drugs, malnutrition. AIDS is an example of Immunodeficiency. Its full form is Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome. In this case, the AIDS virus completely destroys the WBC of blood and the immune system of the body is broken and the virus takes control of the immune system and hence result in death.
Immune System disorders are classified into four types namely:
  • Immunodeficiency Disorder
  • AutoImmune Disorder
  • Allergic Disorder
  • Cancer of Immune System
Immunodeficiency disorder
Immunodeficiency disorder may be Innate or acquired. In autoimmune disorder, the human body's immune system attacks its own defence mechanism and tissues as if it were foreign organisms. In allergic disorder, the immune system overreacts to the antigen.Cancer results in the replication of cells.  Immunodeficiencies can affect B lymphocytes, T lymphocytes, or phagocytes.
IgA deficiency is a most common primary immunodeficiency disorder. IgA is a immunoglobulin that is found in the body fluids particularly Saliva.People with this deficiency tend to attract more cold as the antibodies are not produced effectively.
Antibodies belong to a family of large molecules known as immunoglobulins.
Different types play different roles in the immune defense strategy.
• Immunoglobulin G, or IgG, works efficiently to coat microbes, speeding their uptake by other cells in the immune system.
• IgM is very effective at killing bacteria.
• IgE, whose natural job is to protect against parasitic infections, is the villain responsible for the symptoms of allergy.
• IgD remains attached to B cells and plays a key role in initiating early B-cell response.
Immunodeficiencies are caused by medication also. For Example, Chemotherapy treatment not only kills cancer cells but also kills naturally, fast growing healthy cells which results in the breakdown of Immune system.
AutoImmune Disorder
Lupus is an example for autoimmune disorder. Patient feels muscle and joint pain and also inflammation. Scleroderma is a disease which results in the inflammation, damage of skin, joints is an autoimmune disorder.
Allergic Disorder
Asthma is a breathing ,respiratory disorder caused by allergic disorder. Due to this disorder, the breathing tubes are narrowed and swollen so that the person cannot breathe properly.Drug allergies are also of the category of allergic disorder. For example,Pencillin is a drug not suitable for everyone.
Cancer
Leukemia is a cancer of the immune system
Vaccines
In Vaccination, the virus is injected into the body in mild quantity and the body starts producing its antibodies and naturally develops resistance for that virus. If we want a vaccine to be produced for Snake bite, Then that snake is made available to bite a horse and checks the antibodies produced by the horse immune system. Then that antibodies are taken with which the new vaccine for human body is prepared. First they check the vaccine by putting it on to rats and check the reaction. If scientists are satisfied that there is no negative reaction, then it is slowly tried with human beings.
Virus
Viruses enter human body and attach it to the surface of the cell. Then it
  1. insert their genetic material in the form of RNA or DNA into the host cell
  1. Replicate within the host cell
  1. Take over the functions of the host cell
Examples:
HIV, Avian Flu, the Flu, Colds,Herpes, HPV, Chicken Pox, Small Pox,
Measles, Mumps, West Nile, Malaria, Rabies
Bacteria
They work by entering the human body, breaks the tissues for food and releases toxin which are harmful to the body. Examples: Streptococcus, diphtheria, botulism, anthrax, gonorrhea, syphilis,Chlamydia.
Layers of Defence
1. First line of defense
• Skin
Dead skin cells provide first level barrier
Secretions
• Mucous
• Saliva
• Tears
• Sweat
They contain enzymes to break down bacterial cell walls. They wash away pathogens.
• Cilia
• In nose and throat
• Keep pathogens from getting into lungs
Stomach acid
• Low pH destroys many pathogens.
2.Second line of defense
Inflammatory response
Reaction to injury, infection
• Redness, swelling, heat
• Phagocytosis
–white blood cells “eat” invading agent
• Destroys toxic agents
Fever
• Kills some pathogens
• Increases metabolic rate
–Produce more white blood cells
•Increased heart rate
• Pumps white cells to infection site faster
Interferons
• Proteins that destroy viruses
Real Defence
• In blood stream and lymphatic system(body fluids), B cells grow, divide rapidly
and  produce:
– Plasma cells
– Memory cells
Plasma cells
• It makes and release antibodies, recognize and bind to antigen. The antigen and the antibody gets engulfed and destroyed by phagocytes.
Memory B cells can remember antigen, can produce more antibodies
quickly if exposed again and Plasma B cells make more
antibodies quickly.
Helper T-cell
• Help B-cells make antibodies by passing along information about pathogen
• Divides to become other types of T-Cells
Killer T-cell
– stored in tonsils, lymph nodes
– travel to infected site
– kill cells that have been infected by pathogen
Suppressor T-Cells
When invader is totally destroyed, suppresses further immune activity.
Antigens are on the surface of macrophage.T Cell binds to the activated macrophage.T cell, activated by macrophage, becomes a helper T Cell . Then Helper T cell activates killer T cells and B cells.Killer T cells bind to infected cells, disrupting their cell membrane and destroys them.
Inadequate defense
Inadequate defense against pathogens can result from genetic causes, acquired causes
(foremost acquired immunodeficiency syndrome –AIDS— by HIV) or from escape strategies developed by pathogens during their co-evolution with humans.
Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases
The majority of primary immunodeficiencies are rare diseases, that are instructive for the
contribution of individual parts of the human immune system to overall defense.
Depending on the genes concerned, the following functions may be impaired:
• T- and B cell function: severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID)
• global or partial B cell response
• phagocytosis
• complement functions
In addition, the immune system is affected in a number of more complex syndromes.
Autoimmune diseases are frequently categorized as either organ specific or systemic.
Organ specific diseases include:
• diabetes mellitus type 1
• Graves' disease
• Hashimoto's thyroiditis
• multiple sclerosis
Diabetes mellitus type 1
It is a autoimmune disease produced due to the lack of production of Insulin.
Type 1 diabetes signs and symptoms include:
  • Increased thirst
  • Frequent urination
  • Bed-wetting in children who previously didn't wet the bed during the night
  • Extreme hunger
  • Unintended weight loss
  • Irritability and other mood changes
  • Fatigue and weakness
  • Blurred vision
Graves Disease is an autoimmune disease that occurs due to the overproduction of Thyroid hormone.
Common signs and symptoms of Graves' disease include:
  • Anxiety and irritability
  • A fine tremor of your hands or fingers
  • Heat sensitivity and an increase in perspiration or warm, moist skin
  • Weight loss, despite normal eating habits
  • Enlargement of your thyroid gland (goiter)
  • Change in menstrual cycles
  • Erectile dysfunction or reduced libido
  • Frequent bowel movements
  • Bulging eyes (Graves' ophthalmopathy)
  • Fatigue
  • Thick, red skin usually on the shins or tops of the feet (Graves' dermopathy)
  • Rapid or irregular heartbeat (palpitations)
Examples for systemic autoimmune diseases are:
• rheumatoid arthritis
• systemic lupus erythematodes
• systemic sclerosis (scleroderma)
• polymyositis and dermatomyositis
Genetic Engineering
Genetic engineering allows scientists to pluck genes—segments of the hereditary material, DNA—from one type of organism and combine them with genes of a second organism. In this way relatively simple organisms such as bacteria or yeast can be induced to make quantities of human proteins, including hormones such as insulin as well as lymphokines and monokines. They can also manufacture proteins from infectious agents, such as the hepatitis virus or HIV, for use in vaccines.
CD8+ T-cell
A cytotoxic T cell (also known as TC, cytotoxic T lymphocyte, CTL, T-killer cell, cytolytic T cell, CD8+ T-cell or killer T cell) is a T lymphocyte .It is a type of White Blood Cell.It kills cells that are cancerous, affected by viruses or other natural ways. T-Cell Receptors also known as TCR, can recognize antigen. Antigens are capable of stimulating immune response.  It is produced by cancer cells or the cells affected by viruses.Inside a cell, antigens are bound to class I MHC molecule. If the TCR is specific to that antigen, then it binds with the class I MHC molecule and the T-cell  destroys the cell. For the TCR to bind with class I MHC molecule , it must be accompanied by a glycoprotein called CD8. Hence they are called  CD8+ T cells.
Phagocytes are large white cells that can swallow and digest microbes and other foreign particles. Monocytes are phagocytes that circulate in the blood. When monocytes migrate into tissues, they develop into macrophages.Specialized types of macrophages can be found in many organs, including lungs, kidneys, brain, and liver. Macrophages act as Scavengers. They remove the worn out cells. They also produce monokines which are vital to produce immune response.Granulocytes are another kind of immune cell. They contain granules filled with chemicals which destroy pathogens. Some of these chemicals, such as histamine, also contribute to inflammation and allergy
We can boost the immune system by
  • Eating healthy food
  • No Alcohol
  • Not Smoking
  • Not putting weight
  • Doing Exercise regularly
OverActive Immune System
It is a process by which our own immune system attacks our own tissues and cells resulting in the self destruction of our human body.Causes for OverActive Immune system are :
  • Dis-proportion of WBC
  • Stress
  • Hormonal changes
  • Genetic changes
  • UV rays,
  • Unhealthy diet
  • Enzyme abnormalities
Problems of OverActive Immune System include:
  • Arthritis
  • Joint Pain
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Psoriasis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Lupus
Arthritis is a disorder that affects joints. Patients with arthritis feels joint pain and stiffness. Other symptoms may include redness, swelling. One form of Arthritis is Rheumatoid Arthritis. It is a autoimmune disorder. It often affects the hand and feet.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease is the inflammation of Colon and small intestine.
Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease characterized by  abnormal skin which is usually red and itchy in nature.
Fibromyalgia is a medical condition often characterized by widespread pain of the body.Symptoms include frequent tiredness, memory problems and sleep disorder. It is frequently associated with depression, anxiety and Posttraumatic stress disorder.
Myasthenia gravis  is a condition where antibodies bind to nerves and make them unable to stimulate muscles properly.
Vasculitis is a condition where the immune system attacks and damages blood vessels It is a autoimmune diseases.
Multiple Sclerosis
In this disease, the antibodies attacks nerve cells. It is a autoimmune Psychiatric disorder.
Diabetes
In this disease, the antibodies attacks pancreatic cells.T lymphocytes cells that destroy insulin-producing cells in the pancreas cause Type 1 diabetes
Treatment
Some of the most common type of treatments for overactive immune systems are immunosuppressants, chemotherapy and corticosteroids. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as  aspirin, ibuprofen and naproxen can be used.
Immunosuppressive drugs can be classified into two groups:
  • glucocorticoids
  • cytostatics
Glucocorticoids, such as prednisone, dexamethasone, and hydrocortisone are used to suppress various allergic, inflammatory, and autoimmune disorders.
Cytostatics inhibit cell division. Purine analogs such as  azathioprine, fluorouracil, methotrexate and mercaptopurine are most frequently administered because it destroys T-Cells.
Natural treatment can also be done. Before going with natural treatment, always do what Doctors advice to do. Use natural boosters such as Aloe Vera,Grapefruit seed Extract,Olive Oil,Garlic. Make a balance with work and life. Sleep healthy for 8 hours.Drink plenty of water.Eat raw vegetables.Exercise regularly.
People of all genders, races, and ages can be affected by autoimmune diseases, but some people are at larger risk of developing an autoimmune disease. An individual’s chance of developing an autoimmune disease is elevated if the following factors are present:
Gender:
Women are more likely to be affected by autoimmune disease than male. Researches found that women have 75% more chance than Men to get this disease. The facts are not clear but the female hormones make it for them to be more vulnerable.
Age:
Most autoimmune diseases affect young and middle aged individuals. Each autoimmune disease is different, and disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis are found more commonly in elderly people.
Ethnicity:
People who are African American, American Indian, or Latino ethnic groups are more likely than Caucasians to develop autoimmune diseases.
Family history of autoimmune disorders:
Numerous studies have shown that the tendency to develop autoimmune disorders can be genetic. If a family member has an autoimmune disorder, others within that family have increased chances of getting the same disorder.
Exposure to environmental agents:
There is some evidence that exposure to certain things in an individual’s immediate environment may increase their risk of developing an autoimmune disease. For example, research shows that exposure to some medications (for example, procainamide or hydrolyzine) and certain metals (mercury, gold, or silver) may be associated with the development of specific autoimmune disorders. Even though the scientific evidence relating environmental exposure to the onset of autoimmune disorders is not entirely conclusive, researchers are still working to find out how environmental exposures may play a role.
Important Words
antibodies—molecules (also called immunoglobulins) produced by a B cell in response to an antigen. When an antibody attaches to an antigen, it helps the body destroy or inactivate the antigen.
B cells—small white blood cells crucial to the immune defenses. Also know as B lymphocytes, they come from bone marrow and develop into blood cells called plasma cells, which are the source of antibodies.
bacteria—microscopic organisms composed of a single cell. Some cause disease.
bone marrow—soft tissue located in the cavities of the bones. Bone marrow is the source of all blood cells.
enzyme—a protein produced by living cells that promotes the chemical processes of life without itself being altered.
fungi—members of a class of relatively primitive vegetable organisms. They include mushrooms, yeasts, rusts, molds, and smuts.
granules—membrane-bound organelles within cells where proteins are stored before secretion.
granulocytes—phagocytic white blood cells filled with granules organisms.Neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, and mast cells are examples of granulocytes.
helper T cells (Th cells)—a subset of T cells that carry the CD4 surface marker and are essential for turning on antibody production, activating cytotoxic T cells, and initiating many other immune functions.
HIV (human immunodeficiency virus)—the virus that causes AIDS.

leukocytes—all white blood cells.
lymph—a transparent, slightly yellow fluid that carries lymphocytes, bathes the body tissues, and drains into the lymphatic vessels.
lymph nodes—small bean-shaped organs of the immune system, distributed widely throughout the body and linked by lymphatic vessels. Lymph nodes are garrisons of B, T, and other immune cells.
lymphatic vessels—a bodywide network of channels, similar to the blood vessels, which transport lymph to the immune organs and into the bloodstream.
lymphocytes—small white blood cells produced in the lymphoid organs and paramount in the immune defenses.B cells and T cells are lymphocytes.
